At least 13 Palestinians killed this Monday, after 93 deaths the day before

"Do I take an injured person to save them, or a bag of flour to save my family?" At least 13 Palestinians killed this Monday, after 93 deaths the day before

At least thirteen Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army in the early hours of Monday, July 21st, while 93 perished under the occupation forces' bullets near humanitarian aid points the previous Sunday. Starved by months of famine maintained by Tel-Aviv, which relentlessly bombs them, Gazans are reduced to having to choose between feeding themselves and saving the wounded.

Day after day, the Gaza Strip Civil Defense reports on the killings carried out by the Israeli army. Day after day, dozens of Palestinian civilians die for attempting to survive. The bombings, meanwhile, intensified on the morning of Monday, July 21st. Israeli aerial bombs targeted the Deir Al-Balah area in central Gaza.

Al-Jazeera reports that a quadcopter fired intermittently near the Mazraa schools, south of Rimzon. At least thirteen Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the early hours of Monday, and this, "in several parts of the Gaza Strip, according to doctors present on site," reports Middle East Eye. At least five Palestinians from the same family were killed on Monday in a bombing that targeted a tent sheltering displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis, located in southern Gaza.

"Huge crowds of starving civilians who came under fire"

Two additional civilians were injured in an Israeli attack on Jabalia Al-Nazla, north of Gaza, according to Al-Jazeera. Tel-Aviv's genocidal enterprise thus shows no signs of weakening. 93 Palestinians were already killed on Sunday, July 20th, while attempting to retrieve humanitarian aid. They were shot by occupation forces. By Sunday evening, the number of Palestinians killed while attempting to access food reached a total of 891 dead and over 5,754 injured.

Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal added that dozens of other civilians were injured following "occupation fire on people waiting for aid" at various points in the Palestinian enclave. 80 of them notably perished in the Zikim area, northwest of Gaza City. This was confirmed by the World Food Program (WFP) field report, which stated that one of its convoys carrying food aid entered the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, before encountering, in the Zikim sector, "huge crowds of starving civilians who came under fire."

The WFP denounced a "totally unacceptable" massacre, while one in three Palestinians has not had access to food for several days. According to estimates from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least eighteen civilians have died in the past 24 hours due to hunger, dehydration, or malnutrition. Tel-Aviv – once again – minimized the killings it instigated by referring to "warning shots to avert an immediate threat to itself." The Israeli army denied the Civil Defense's toll and only confirmed 23 deaths in bombardments in the Palestinian territory.

An increase in infant deaths

"Thousands of desperate people were gathered to get flour," says Qassem Abou Khater to Agence France-Presse (AFP), who had gone to an aid distribution. Tanks fired randomly at us. The 36-year-old Palestinian explains seeing "dozens of people" die in front of him. "The question was: do I take an injured person to save them, or a bag of flour to save my family? My God, what have we been reduced to!"

The Civil Defense announced an increase in infant deaths caused by "hunger and severe malnutrition," reporting at least three child deaths in the past week. "Our children cry and scream for food. They go to sleep hungry," warns Ziad Mousleh, a 45-year-old father who can no longer find anything to feed his children.

Palestinian territory, where it ordered the population to evacuate. Entire families thus had to leave the region, taking only a few belongings, piled on carts pulled by donkeys for the lucky ones. These headed south of the enclave. "They threw leaflets at us, and we don't know where we're going," worries Adi Abou Qinnas.

"The massive displacement order issued by the Israeli army has dealt another terrible blow to the already fragile lifelines that keep people alive in the Gaza Strip," lamented the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in a statement. In nearly 22 months of war, the majority of the more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been displaced at least once. As a reminder, at least 58,895 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, according to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
