Gaza: Since the Last Truce, Death Has Never Stopped

Since the last update on the situation in Gaza, the observation is chilling: far from abating, Israeli strikes continue and the number of Palestinian deaths continues to rise, day after day, amid relative international indifference.

Dozens More Deaths in a Few Days

According to Gaza health authorities, quoted by several international news agencies, several dozen Palestinians have been killed in recent days, adding to an already catastrophic toll. The total number of deaths now exceeds 70,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are civilians, with an extremely high proportion of children and women.

Journalists on the ground report that since the announcement of the ceasefire, more than 350 people have been killed, often in strikes presented by Israel as "targeted," but which regularly hit homes, displacement tents, or areas near humanitarian distribution points.

Nearly Daily Strikes

In the last 48 hours, bombings have hit Khan Younis, Rafah, and several neighborhoods in Gaza City. Local medical sources report entire families buried under rubble, while bodies continue to be extracted from the ruins of buildings destroyed weeks ago. Each new strike adds to a toll already beyond any acceptable framework.

Rescue teams explain that many deaths are still unaccounted for, due to a lack of resources to search the rubble or access certain areas. The official figure is therefore likely lower than the reality.

Civilians Targeted in an Exhausted Territory

Recent bombings have once again hit densely populated civilian areas. International correspondents describe neighborhoods with no apparent military infrastructure, but where repeatedly displaced families live. Hospitals, already overwhelmed, receive new seriously wounded patients every day, in a context of extreme shortages of medicine, electricity, and fuel.

For doctors, the situation has become untenable: some speak of "permanent war medicine," where one must choose who to treat and who to let die.

A Truce That Is Not One

Officially, the ceasefire is still in effect. But for Palestinians, it exists only in diplomatic communiqués. On the ground, strikes, deaths, and destruction continue. Several observers note that this truce primarily serves to alleviate international political pressure, without offering real protection to the population.

International reactions remain limited to calls for restraint and expressions of concern, without concrete measures to end the violence.
