Gaza: Continuous Strikes, Rising Deaths, and Silenced NGOs
The situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. Israeli strikes persist almost daily, the number of Palestinian deaths is still rising, and a new major element is aggravating the crisis: the banning or suspension of activities for many humanitarian NGOs.
An Ever-Increasing Human Toll
According to Gaza health authorities, several dozen Palestinians have been killed in recent days during strikes on densely populated areas in the southern and central parts of the enclave. The overall death toll now exceeds 70,000 Palestinian deaths, a figure that continues to rise despite the official existence of a ceasefire.
Local doctors explain that many deaths are still not accounted for, due to the inability to access certain bombed areas or to extract bodies still buried under the rubble. Recent victims include children, women, and the elderly, often killed in their homes or in makeshift shelters.
Civilians Still Targeted
The most recent strikes hit Khan Younis, Rafah, and several neighborhoods in Gaza City. International correspondents describe scenes of panic, entire families decimated, and ambulances prevented from reaching the injured. For residents, the concept of a "safe zone" no longer exists.
Hospitals, already overwhelmed, face a constant influx of critically injured people, amid extreme shortages of medicine, electricity, and fuel. Doctors speak of a permanent survival situation.
NGOs Banned or Hindered
Adding to this military violence is now an offensive against humanitarian aid. In recent days, several local and international NGOs have seen their activities suspended or banned by Israeli authorities. Some organizations have had their access permits revoked, while others are accused without public proof of political ties, which justifies their exclusion from the field.
For humanitarian actors, this policy amounts to deliberately stifling aid for an already starving and displaced population. NGOs explain that they can no longer distribute food, care, or clean water to hundreds of thousands of people dependent on this assistance.
A Truce Without Real Protection
Officially, the ceasefire is still in effect. But on the ground, the strikes, deaths, and now the criminalization of humanitarian aid show that it does not protect the civilian population in any way. For many Palestinians, the truce primarily serves to alleviate international diplomatic pressure, without changing daily reality.
Persistent International Silence
Despite the severity of the situation, international reactions remain limited to expressions of concern. No sanctions or concrete measures have been taken to stop the strikes or guarantee humanitarian access. This silence is perceived as a form of complicity by the Palestinian population.
